End of one therapy and on to the next!

On Preston's 3rd Birthday he aged out of the Provo Early Intervention Program so he no longer gets speech therapy or water therapy with them.  Instead he will be transitioning into a special ed preschool through the school district.  He starts this Tuesday!! ahh!
Anyways Preston has been doing Occupational therapy for the last 6 weeks as well as continuing his Physical therapy at the Orem Pediatric Rehab center.  Occupational therapy is more for everyday living skills  some of the things we have been working on are dressing, putting socks and shoes on, potty training (not going so well), using utensils ( he was seeing a feeding specialist at the orem rehab but he can not eat without choking so he doesn't do that anymore yay!), and his attention span ;-P
This month Preston has done pretty well with putting clothes on...he has a hard time figuring out how to get his shirt off tho.  The main thing this month is putting on shoes. These are pictures of him wearing Davin's bball shoes. He loves to put our shoes on cause they are just soo much easier lol.

"...But mom, these shoes are so much easier to put on then mine!"
Preston's first time putting his own shoes on!  They are on the wrong feet but he put a lot of effort into it and did a great job! ;-)

Fun Kids in August

Preston Loves his lil sis!

Claire's first time in pig tails! Plus look at all that drool! haha

Playin together...kinda.  Preston will put his toys just far enough away so she can't quite reach.  He wants to play with her but then doesn't want to share.  He is going to have to learn!  ;-P

my 2 drooly babies ;-)

outfit Aunt Amy and Uncle Jake got for Claire...Preston loves it because it has minny mouse on it

I love these 2 'playin' together

whenever Preston falls asleep I feel like I need to document it because he hasn't taken a regular nap in over a year!
watching a movie!

Preston loves giving his baby kisses
wake up Claire!
Preston eating breakfast consists of him shoveling food into his mouth as fast as he can...those 11 hours of sleep sure make a boy hungry!

Claire has been drooling a lot...probably teething and bein in the oral stage (which we are trying to break Preston of haha)  One day Davin and Preston decided she needed to wear a bib too.  Preston thought it was so cool ;-)
silly guy...loves to put stuff on his head...hats, scarves,  handkerchiefs, socks lol
I can see you... haha
These kids sure love their daddy!  They got to spend so much time with him this summer because he was working 4-7:30am every morning at BYU so Davin was home by the time they were up.  They sure will miss daddy when he goes back to school full time!

Claire is 5 months with a sick lil tummy ;-(

4 days after we started Claire on rice cereal (just days after she turned 4 months) she started having the diarrhea poo for every poopy diaper (too much information, i know lol) I thought she just had a stomach bug and gave her some pidialyte for a week but nothing changed.  I called the doctors office and they told me to just keep her hydrated which I had been doing.  A week later I called again and they told me to put her on a probiotic called cultraelle and stop giving her rice cereal.  About 5 days after we started her on the cultraelle was when we went on our 2 day vacation that she just had poo bums all the time probably every hour and got a horrible diaper rash too ;-(
I finally couldn't take it anymore and took her in to the doctor.  Poor Claire even started to thin out a little bit (good thing she had plenty of reserves lol ) The doctor looked her over and said she should be tested for celiac disease which a few of my family members do have.  The doctor also wanted a stool sample (ha!) to test for a wide variety of stomach bugs and parasites...to see if she needed an antibiotic.  So they had to draw her blood for the celiac test (blood from both arms) so sad but she did well.  She appears to not have celiac (phew!)  The crazy part was that her stool sample (getting the stool sample was quite tricky having to use plastic wrap and a urine collection bag lol) came back negative for everything.  The doctor prescribed a special antibiotic for the bowel that had to be specially mixed.  She has to have it 4 times a day for 7 days.  Tomorrow is the 7th day and so far it has made it so she only has one to two diarrhea poos a day but she still isn't pooin normally ;-(  I sure hope when this medicine is done she goes back to normal somehow.  If not she will have to see a specialist.  I just can't wrap my brain around taking Claire to see a specialist but I just won't think about that until the time comes.

Other than all that Claire is doing well!!
(so well that I forgot about taking her 5 month picture for a week)

She loves to smile.
She loves being held in the standing position or hanging out in the exersauser.
She loves to squeal in excitement and joy...very loudly!
She loves it when people make her laugh, especially Preston lol!
She can sit up for a lil while now with a boppy behind her.
She can hold her own bottle while being held or layin on the ground.
She loves to TRY to suck on her thumb...we pull it out quickly and shove the binkie in haha (you can take away a binkie when the time comes but you just can't get rid of a thumb on a thumb sucker haha ;-P )

Bowling! Maybe not...

We tried to go mini golfing at the Orem Trafalga black light golf course.  We thought Preston wouldn't last long but he didn't last one hole before he just took off looking at everything.  The craziest part was that he couldn't really see and kept tripping on everything.  bad idea! haha Maybe next year since we were there for a total of 15 mins. ;-P  It was our last (kinda) fun thing we did before the end of summer. ;-)
Can you see Claire?
running around
Carrying his glow in the dark golf ball
Preston couldn't figure out why we were using clubs when you could just simply pick up the ball and put it in the hole lol

after Preston threw his ball into the water...he wanted to get in the water to get it

obviously going the wrong direction haha

Mini Summer Vacation

Since we weren't able to financially leave Utah this year we decided to have one last big hoorah before Davin started school.  We decided to get a hotel in Park City, Utah for a night when I didn't have to work ( I got a job at children's place in the mall for the summer) during the week when everything is cheaper. ;-)

Day 1
So the week before Davin's school started we headed first up to thanksgiving point to go to their 2 buck tuesdays in August and go to the children's park. It had all kinds of fun things for kids to do and see.  It was a little warm but still fun. (due to the fact that it took us forever to get packed and everything together...typical ;-) After that we had a picnic in the car because it was cooler and we didn't bring food into the park because we didn't think we could.  (just so you all know...you can despite what the sign says)  Then we were off to Park City!
Once we got to there (a beautiful drive btw)  we checked into the hotel and then we went to the Olympic Park and checked out the museum there and watched some skiers practice by going down a hill into a pool...it was pretty dang cool.  Then we drove around downtown Park City and what a beautiful small town feel it had.  I loved the look of the buildings and everything.  Then we ordered some pizza and ate it at the park area at a gym close to the hotel. The weather was beautiful with a storm rolling in...I couldn't bring myself to eating in the hotel room ;-)  After that we went back to the hotel and went swimming in the HEATED indoor pool.  I emphasize heated because Davin thought it was soo cold and then Preston thought it was soo cold too after Davin's complaining...aka squealing lol   What a bunch of babies I didn't think it was even close to freezing.  ;-P  We also went into the hot tub which felt amazing but I didn't want Preston in for a long time because he is young (I for some reason think they aren't supposed to go in hot tubs for long periods of time...is there any truth to that? I don't know).  Claire had been having tummy problems and pooing all the time so we just brought her in her car seat. haha poor thing missed out.  Then we all went right to sleep! Preston did really well in a queen size bed all to himself.  Claire woke up a few extra times because she kept pooing all over herself...poor baby!!

Preston was so excited to leave because he could see us packing and he just had to go sit in the car  while we loaded...he couldn't wait in the apartment. ;-P
This is while we were in the children's park at thanksgiving point
Preston was just walking everywhere so excited!

Claire Pretty much slept through the whole thing haha
swim trucks on to play in the stream haha...it was really rocky so he wouldn't walk in it without  holding a hand ;-)

the man made waterfall at the gardens

The splash park at the children's park
he got sprayed in the face

Drive to Park City
The Olympic Park ski hills

The bob sled track and rope course
In the museum in a bob sled
Watchin the skiers and snowboarders go down the ramp  into a pool.  They did some pretty cool tricks.
bob sledding

Claire is amazing!

So is Preston!

he loved the bobsled if you couldn't tell ;-P
these were some of the stuff used in the opening ceremony  2002

Mr. I can't hold still!
such a nice view too!
these jets in the pool would turn on when they would do a trick into the pool

Headed to downtown Park City (these were all taken in the car...we were to tired and I think  both kids were asleep actually. Way too much excitement for one day!

Horses on a mountain...how cool is that?! I want to live here when i grow up ;-P
Pizza dinner picnic style. The weather was beautiful!

Preston was non stop!
look at those 2 pansies in the "cold" heated pool lol
Day 2
I had a bunch of things planned for day 2 but day 1 wore everyone out so much that we decided to forego the plans to go to salt lake.  We got up and went to our free breakfast buffet in the hotel restaurant.  It was pretty yummy.  The funny thing was that right outside the window at breakfast there were a couple big diggers moving dirt and things.  Preston loved it!  He had his favorite things for breakfast (pancakes, fruit, milk) and diggers! haha The scene outside made it so we could sit and enjoy our breakfast without him bein a wiggle worm.  Then we packed up and went to the outlet mall in park city.  We spent a couple hours window shopping and buying a few things.  Then we drove back to the beautiful downtown area to grab a bite to eat.  When we went to leave I decided I should change Claire's diaper before we left for an hour drive back to Provo.  When I took her out of her car seat I realized she had exploded (poo everywhere, car seat and herself). Needless to say we were a little delayed in leaving because I had to try to clean her up in the parking lot since the dang burger king didn't have a changing station.  blast!  Fun times haha
We drove back to Provo through the beautiful mountains...have I ever said how beautiful Utah is? lol  seriously tho!  We stopped at a lake to take some pictures and to stretch our legs.  Lovely place with a beach and everything, we hope to go back sometime!  When we got into town I made an appointment for Claire to see the doctor because something had been going on with her tummy for several weeks (pooin all the time) and nothing the nurses recommended we try had worked.  On our 2 day vacation she kinda went poo crazy!  Before the doctor tho we went to visit my cousin Rachel who had stayed at our apartment while we were gone for the night.  My other cousin Dave who had drove with her from Iowa stayed the night too but he left to Idaho before we got back.  Rachel moved into an apartment just a block away for the fall semester.  So we walked over to visit with her for a few mins.  Then we headed back so I could take Claire to the doctor.  (I will talk more about Claire in a different post) ;-)  Needless to say day 2 wasn't nearly as exciting but Preston was just exhausted and we didn't want to push him too hard.  To be honest with you we were tired too. Vacations with young kids are hard work! haha

Preston hangs out with his mama too much because he carries his diaper changer station like a purse haha

Leavin the hotel!
Drive home.  We saw some scorched land from wild fires on our way back.  There have been soo many wild fires this year.  Its just sad!
the lake we stopped at...I can't remember the name but it had a beach...not rocks

trying to get Preston to blow the dandelions...no such luck. ;-P He just carried one around

Davin complaining about his sore back and Preston with a stick...priceless
Getting Preston to hold still is quite the task at a new place!
