Parents visit for Easter!

My parents flew out to visit  for about a week for
Easter! We did a lot of fun things. We went to Cabelas, the Zoo, Ikea, Taconos, Trafalga, Provo Canyon and a few other places. As well as celebrated Easter of course. ;-)
This is when we went to the Zoo. the Gorilla was every one's favorite.  He was eating a cereal BOX lol not cereal just the box.
Preston is about the size of a baby Gorilla. haha
The Gorilla again...he was playing peak a boo with everyone. Preston loved it!
We are right outside the elephant enclosure. Sadly the elephants moved out of the picture. oh well.
My parents took Preston and Scarlett on the Zoo's merry go round.  They all loved it!
My mom and Preston.
My dad and Preston.
My dad is back there somewhere...
Preston kept trying to climb into the cages haha
Preston and Davin in the jungle!  Or rather the bird enclosure at the zoo.
Preston loved riding on Daddy's shoulders!
My mom was trying to help Preston get into the crocodile exhibit. lol ok maybe she wasn't trying to but that is what it looked like.
This is the hat that we didn't get Preston at the Zoo haha It sure was cool tho!
Easter egg hunt with Seth, Megan, Scarlett, and my parents!  We just had it in the back yard of our apartment complex.  Preston and Scarlett weren't huge fans of walking on the grass cause they are still pretty clumsy.  But they got the hang of it.
Davin is showing Preston what to do.

Preston got the hang of it and was trying to pick up more than one egg at a time which is pretty hard with such small hands!

It seemed like Preston was telling us "Help, i already have an egg in each hand!"
Opening the eggs.  Once they found out the eggs had candy in them there was no stopping them! haha
One of the adventures we went on was a drive up the Provo Canyon!  My parents took our car and Preston while we took the motorcycle. It was fun!  Besides the point that we ran out of gas on the motorcycle and Seth had to get us some lol  Thankfully we weren't in the canyon yet so the whole ordeal wasn't more than 20 mins.
Scarlett and Preston had a fun time riding in the double stroller together and watching the water in the creek/river.
Preston going down the slide at the park in the Canyon...it was pretty chilly.
There was a random hail storm so we stayed in the Car till the hail stopped.  Pretty impressive for Utah lol
We went to Tucanos for lunch. Yumm!
Preston and my mom and Tucanos. He was getting a little sick of sitting.
This is during our trip to Ikea.  Who needs strollers when we have a wagon!  Seth got this wagon and was pretty excited to use it.  The kids liked it.
Preston wanted to pull it himself.
My dad and Preston at the Ikea play area.  He loved going down the slide in the background.
On the last day my parents were here we went to Trafalga for some mini golf.  The kids wanted to golf so bad but were kinda just in the way lol  Poor guys! Maybe when your a little bit older.
Last picture before my parents had to leave for the airport ;-(  It was a fun time for everyone!  We were busy everyday doing something.  I think we may have over planned there stay cause it sure went by fast!

Preston playing in the snow!

This is Preston's first time playing in the snow because his first winter he was too young to play in it. He wasn't too excited about walking in the snow but he had a good time running around it haha. Even though i am mean and didn't get him any snow boots so i just put plastic bags over his shoes...so that made it hard for him to walk anyways. ohh well he still was excited! ;-) oh and i had to add the picture of his hand print in the slushy snow...soo cute!

Preston's Surgery....

Preston's surgery to have his tongue clipped because it was tongue tied and tubes put in his ears was January 7th at the Utah Valley Regional Medical Center. We were told to be at the hospital by 6:30am....super early but that way Preston wouldn't have to go without eating for too long in the morning. Preston was a happy camper when we were waiting. He played with the toys they had there and got to wear some hospital pjs and socks....pretty much the cutest thing ever. I had no idea that they made hospital gowns so small! Preston really enjoyed the hospital socks with the grippers on the bottoms. He would just walk around trying to push his feet but they were stuck so he would pick his foot up really high....to walk better? lol who knows. I spoke to the doctor before the surgery and I had mentioned that the skin that connects the top lip to the gums was really low and between his top 2 teeth. The doctor checked and said that he would clip that skin as well because it will cause gaps between his front two adult teeth. Poor kid...even more cutting in his mouth! Anyways he went in for surgery around 7:45am which sucked because Davin had to leave at 7:30am for his class at 8am. I really wished he could have been with me because it was harder on me to have the nurses take him back then i thought it would be. It made me super sad when he left. Preston didn't mind at all, he loves everyone so he was laughing and smiling when he left me and they took him down the hall.

I waited for like an eternity for Preston to be done....ok maybe only 20 mins....but it sure felt like an eternity!! I could hear him crying down the hall. When they brought him in he was crying and there was blood coming out of his mouth. The doctor told me that the surgery was a success with no complications which shocked me because all i saw was blood and crying....didn't seem like a success to me! All i could think was, what have i done?! Anyways sure enough the harder he cried the more he spat blood! Then i started crying because it was so hard for me to see him like that and of course Davin wasn't quite back from class yet. ;-( When they handed him to me he was just hysterically crying. He had an IV in his little left hand from the surgery so they were giving him fluids to try and flush out the a anesthetic because they were saying he was just having a hard time coming out of anesthesia. He eventually calmed down for about five minutes and then started screaming again. I asked them if they could get him some pain meds because he seemed to be in pain. The nurse came back with the oral kind of pain medicine and of course he wanted us no where near his mouth. I was so mad....why didn't they just give him some pain medicine through his IV? Anyways we did eventually get him to take it and he fell asleep in my arms....poor baby!! Davin got there just after he fell asleep...go figure!! ;-P Eventually my back started to hurt so i went to lay him down on the bed and as soon as i laid him back he started choking....apparently on blood. ;-( I sat him up and he was much better...he even took a few bites of yogurt. ;-) We left at about 10:20am an hour later then we had been told because he had a hard time after the anesthetic including recognizing who we were!! So sad ;-(

When we got him home he would only eat cool yogurt which was totally understandable. The doctor prescribed Preston some Tylenol with codeine for pain. The first 2 days we gave it to him every 4 hours because he would start whining in obvious pain just before 4 hours was up. The first day he was just really out of it because of the anesthesia but let me tell you the next day was hilarious when he was feeling good on his pain meds. We caught him doing the funniest things which included....laying completely flat on his belly licking the floor while kicking his legs and hitting the floor with his hands, yuck!!, he laughed at the dumbest things, pointed at the ceiling a lot, he would fall and just lay on the floor like it was the coolest thing ever, and pretty much walk around like a drunk. lol He is doing great considering we found out later that he had 4 stitches under his tongue! Thankfully the stitches were the dissolving kind and are all gone now. It is so amazing how quickly Preston has bounced back. He no longer chokes on food or a sippy cup. He now seems to be able to hear much better. Preston still has yet to say a word but it will come soon hopefully and sadly he still drools like no other. The drooling thing has just got to stop!! ;-P

This was just a funny thing he did while drugged up. He put the construction worker in his shoe then put the fireman next to the shoe and then brought Elmo over to look (Elmo is the red fur on the bottom of the picture. lol
We had to add the bib to the gown...lol but it was super cute. I did take the bib off when they brought him back to me because of all the blood at first...

He loved the piano they had for him to play with! ;-)

3 year anniversary!

Since we were not going to be in Michigan for our anniversary we decided to go all out for our anniversary and get a hotel in Salt lake City. Also we arranged for Preston to have a sleep over at Seth and Megan's during our get away and he had a great time! So the weather on our anniversary was terrible!! The weather kinda forced us to change our plans a little bit but we did have a fantastic time anyways. First off we headed to salt lake a little earlier then planned to make sure we could make it to salt lake city at all. We went to outback steakhouse which was really close to salt lake city and the roads were horrible! It was just crazy. It took us about 45 more mins longer then it should have. However we had a very nice dinner. MMmmm. Then we ventured out into the snow storm to our hotel in downtown salt lake city. There was so much snow and ice on the roads that we even saw a tow truck spin out. Needless to say we drove slow and steady. ;-P It was very strange driving downtown with little to no traffic. Also with all the snow it didn't even look like downtown salt lake. so weird. Anyways the hotel was wonderful and the hotel staff were so helpful with directions and everything. Also the next morning when we went to leave, our car was all cleared off of snow and ice!! We would not mind going back there, that is for sure!
After checking in and everything we decided to go to the mall that was right by the hotel. We got some hot chocolate and walked around the outdoor mall....lol i think we were just about the only ones. We still enjoyed our very snowy walk none the less. ;-) Later that night we went to Denny's for some dessert....we had some plans to go to a much nicer place but it was way too far away from the tram system and we did not want to drive. Anyways dessert at Denny's was good and we rode the tram.....fun times. We may not of done a whole lot but we sure enjoyed our time as just a couple in Salt Lake City.
The next day we slept in of course but only till 9:30 LOL We are so used to getting up with Preston that 9:30 seemed like sleeping in. Then we had breakfast at Denny's and headed back to Provo for a movie. We saw Tangled...such a good movie! I loved it! Anyways I think we determined that celebrating an anniversary like this is worth every penny! We definatly want to do this again next year! ;-)

When we left Provo it was slightly sprinkling.

Closer to the point of the mountain it was pouring.

at the point of the mountain it was snowing/raining.

Into the salt lake valley...snow! Lots of Snow and since it had been raining there was ice under the snow as well!! Yuck!
Our winter wonderland! It was so quiet and beautiful!
The gateway!
Trams! Best way to travel! Especially in crappy weather!

Hotel lobby...Davin hanging out by the fire!

Tram station right by our hotel...pretty awesome!
we really do love each other!! ;-)
Davin loved the tram a little too much i think. ;-P
