Started baby sitting Scarlett!

On April 13th Megan went back to work and they had asked me if i would baby sit Scarlett a couple days a week. I was more then happy to watch the little cutie! I am happy that Preston will have a playmate...well once Scarlett is a little older ;-)

At first they just ignored each other.

Then they would just look at each other. lol

Then as the day wore on Preston became more interested in Scarlett. He really wanted to pull her hair lol

The first day i had to take Davin into school and man is it hard getting 2 babies in our car and back out again! ;-P Also since now Preston is in a convertible car seat because he out grew his baby seat! We got him into his new car seat on 4/12 he almost made it to 9 months in his baby seat....haha a lot longer then we thought. ;-P

Easter!

Well our Easter Sunday was very relaxing. We didn't go anywhere. We just hung out at home and watched general conference on TV. (twice a year my church has church on TV) Davin made Chili. We had fun showing Preston the Easter Baskets (yes we still made up an Easter basket for Preston even though he couldn't eat anything in the basket lol we sure did!).

I just thought this picture was way funny. He really liked going after the eggs!

Thank you walmart for collapsible Easter baskets....so easy to store! Last year we just threw the baskets away due to lack of space! Oh the joys of living in an apartment!

Which egg do you want to get? Preston didn't seem to mind that we didn't go anywhere or do much of anything. He was happy with spending all day with his parents. ;-P I am sure he will not like it when he is older but for now he loves spending all day with his parents! ;-)

Preston's first time at the park among other things...

Starting in march Preston's teething goes to a whole new level! He chews on EVERYTHING no matter how big it is...such as the baby wipe box. We no longer can keep it on the changing table. LoL

The first beautiful day was 3/16 we took full advantage of it. Davin and i decided to take a walk to the park with Preston. I think we were having more fun then he was. He didn't mind the swing but he sure had a firm grip on it!

He loved running his hands over the grass.

He had soo much fun that he fell asleep on the walk home. lol i love this picture! it looks like he is posing but he has just fallen asleep like this. ;-P

Yes guys the rumor is true he is finally getting hair!! Although his hair is soo blond it is still hard to see....so i did a close up shot of his precious strands...hopefully more to come LoL

Of all the toys he has he prefers empty water bottles. I think it makes him feel so strong when he crushes it in his hands...shows it doesn't take much to make our little guy happy! ;-)

I went to get ready for the day and when i came back this is how i found him. Apparently being under the play mat is just soo much more fun then actually playing on it.

Sadly the end of march Preston started shaking his head side to side which we thought was so cool until we found out that he was shaking his head because he had an ear infection! The first one of his life! I felt so bad for him. Then 3 days later on March 27Th(the day Preston turned 8 months) Preston got his first 2 teeth! He was such a miserable little boy with an ear infection and 2 teeth coming thru. His first 2 teeth were his front bottom 2. Woohoo! We were happy that all his drooling finally led to some teeth!

Also during the doctor visit for his ear infection the doctor recommended we go get an xray of his scull because the doctor thought the sutures on the top of his head (which all babies have as the scull is growing)may have closed prematurely. To our relief the xray just showed that the sutures were close to closing but were still open. If they were closed he would need surgery to fix it. Which would have been so scary! Thankfully Preston didn't need surgery!

Preston's cousin is here!!

Seth and Megan had their beautiful baby girl Scarlett O'linda Burke on 3-3-2010. This is Preston's first cousin on the Burke side. They are only 7 months apart but look how huge Preston looks compared to the newborn Scarlett!

They are going to be best friends!! ;-)

Preston trying to copy me when i do the "motor boat" noise with my lips. He is learning so much and trying to communicate in his own way ;-) We are also glad that he is steering away from the high pitched squealing. We think this is way more funny.

Sushi, V day and of course Preston

So Davin is currently working as a waiter at a Japanese steak house while going to school. He has tried a bunch of sushi and has decided that he really likes it and he wanted me to try it. Since he gets a discount i said what the heck i will try it and believe it or not i really like it too. Our favorite kinds are the most unhealthy kinds....the deep fried ones lol Which my friend who went on a mission to Japan for 18 months has informed us that sushi that is deep fried is not "real" sushi....oh well we love it! Anyways long story short we thought it would be so much fun to try and make it ourselves....the above picture is our first sushi roll the California roll. It looks so good doesn't it? lol it actually tasted like sushi....crazy right? we really are amazing.

Needless to say we went out for sushi for Valentines day....we were so full!! It was soo good too. After we ate we went to see the movie Percy Jackson, the lightening thief. It was all way fun and i am glad we got to go out while Seth watched Preston! Preston had so much fun with his uncle!


Davin is quite the artist. When your stomach is full everything is a smiley face...

Preston has discovered his feet lately....well at least discovered that he is in control of them!

We have discovered that Preston has to be fed in only his diaper cause he gets baby food everywhere! He loves to spit it onto his hand and lick it off...yuck! Believe it or not but the baby food still ends up on his diaper somehow. lol needless to say he loves all the different kinds....he does not discriminate.

Davin thought Preston was looking pretty tough in this outfit....lol minus the Binky i guess.


So we bought a safety bumper to keep Preston's arms and legs in the crib because he always gets them stuck out. However Preston's new favorite thing is to kick down the front panel and stick his feet out.....so annoying. He will sleep like this too. Oh and also in January we got him sleeping without his binky because he was waking us up throughout the night because he would lose his binky and want it back. He sleeps much better now without it once he learned how to sleep on his own. Since December he has been going to bed around 9pm and waking up at around 6am for a bottle and then going back to sleep till 830am or sometimes even 9am! we are loving it! Also he has a new love for his blankets and everything soft...he likes to touch his face with them and hold them....so cute!

Preston has been a little big for his car seat cover the last couple months but we just kept putting him in it until well he started escaping.....

Now we have to put a coat on him and try and fit him in the car seat....such a pain. ;-P He is quickly outgrowing his car seat sadly.

I put a jar of baby food on his tray while i went to grab a bowl to mix the cereal and baby food together (which is his favorite way to eat his baby food) and when i turned around this is what i found. Apparently Preston has learned that baby food comes from those small jars even though i haven't ever fed him right out of a jar yet. he pulled the jar right to his mouth like he was going to drink it. Silly guy. We also started putting a plastic bib on him to stop the baby food from getting on his diaper....he is soo messy!

Preston's six month check up and random stuff

Preston has been working on sitting up and squealing. Yes that is right squealing...he thinks it is the coolest thing that he can do with his voice. He is smiling and laughing now which is so much fun!

One morning Preston woke up with a Binky stuck to the side of his face. He turned to look at me and there it was...i could not help but laugh. He didn't even seem to mind or notice it. We had to get a picture.

Preston's favorite toy at the moment. He even falls asleep with it.


around 1/11/2010 he finally could sit up for a few seconds when we sat him up. Davin's hand was waiting for his famous tip over.

On 1/13/2010 Preston finally was sitting up for more like 2 minutes at a time so we didn't have to sit right next to him.

He was so proud!

Davin thought it was way funny when Preston thought he could drink out of the Dr Pepper bottle. lol

on 1/28/2010 (the day after his six month check up) he was able to start baby food! He made this terrible face when he first took a spoonful.....

then he just couldn't get enough of it. He is like a little bird he keeps his mouth wide open for more!

At the end of January he is still practicing his sitting skills with a pillow behind for protection against those unexpected falls backwards.

Oh and his 6 month stats are

Height: 90th percentile, 28 1/2 inches

Weight: 70th percentile, 18.12 pounds

His Head was: 75th percentile

So he has a big head oh darn lol. Hope that means he will be super smart! He is tall and pretty thin. We love him so much and are so glad that he is a happy healthy little guy!
