October fun

Picture when he was trying on his costume that his grandma Burke sent him for Halloween.

We had this cute scene set up outside of our apartment and he would not pay attention long enough to smile. sadly.

to busy looking at the leaves i think.

Preston likes to watch TV and watch the computer screen....fun times. lol

Davin's pumpkin.....this is the only picture we got of it. oops

Preston is a smiling fool now....happy boy!

and he drools a lot!....i think he is teething already! so does the doctor.

he really doesn't mind tummy time anymore

Such a good boy in his car seat...we take him everywhere!! We like to get out of the apartment that is for sure! i think he does too.

Usually loves his baths!
Getting chilly outside....this is our very unmatching little boy. blue hat, green striped PJ's, blue plaid pants, and yellow rimmed socks.....lol it was the only warm thing we could come up with that day. don't worry we got him a few more winter outfits...he doesn't always not match. ;-P

On Halloween a friend of mine Emily (who just got off her mission from Japan) invited us to a Japanese place to eat in Salt Lake City. It was fun. She dressed up....we didn't....well only Preston. Apparently in Japan everyone throws up peace signs for the camera....Emily hasn't gotten over that yet....and well Davin has no excuse lol

Preston didn't mind going to Salt Lake City...although he seemed somewhat nervous around the grill at the restaurant.
All we did for Halloween was go to SLC to eat and rent a scary movie...we just dressed Preston up for the day...our little Monkey. ;-)

Preston's 2nd month check up and accomplishments

Here is one of Preston's first social smiles....which usually includes his tongue. ;-)

Then we have one of Preston's last nights in his bassinet in our room. He grew up so fast.

This is right after Preston rolled onto his right side for the first time....he fell asleep right afterwards because he was so tired. ;-) this was on 9/19/2009 he wasn't even 2 months. one determined little guy.

That night after he started rolling onto his sides i put him in his crib because i was scared he would get stuck on a side in his bassinet....just a worried first time mom. lol his crib looked so big compared to him!!

My birthday was September 20Th but we celebrated Friday September 18Th. When Seth and his wife Megan could babysit Preston. It was the first time i was away from Preston it was hard but fun. We went out to eat and to a movie. It was a nice time with my Davin! This picture was taken that day....a messed up family picture. lol

This is just a funny picture of Preston all bundled up with his hat over his eyes. It was taken on a cold morning that i had to take Davin to school. I just grabbed Preston from his crib and through on a few warm things and he just fell back asleep.

This is a picture of my sleeping boys. Davin is such a good dad, he isn't always sleeping on the job. ;-P

At his 2nd month check up he was
12.4 lbs
24 1/2 inches long
He was 95 percentile in length and 90Th in weight and head.
Big guy!

Preston's Blessing and summer trip

Well we decided to go to Nauvoo, Illinois for my Cousin Todd's Wedding on August 28Th 2009 in the Nauvoo temple. Their reception was in Waterloo, Iowa which is my parents home town and where my Grandpa and Grandma Oesterle live along with various other extended family members. We decided to also have Preston's blessing at my Grandparents house because so many of my extended family and immediate family would be there because of the wedding.

So we set out for our cross country journey from Utah to Iowa before Preston was even a month old. What were we thinking? lol jk

We drove across Wyoming, Nebraska and Iowa....this was the view pretty much the entire way.......

we had to stop to feed little Preston every 2 to 3 hours.....which meant we ended up having to stop at a bunch of random places to feed him...including the side of the road ;-)

needless to say Preston learned to love the car seat.....or "the chair" as we like to call it. I was playing with our new camera and took this picture of Preston in his back seat mirror.....i thought it was a neat picture. ;-)

Preston slept quite well in his portacrib. The cross country drive took 2 days to get to Iowa and 2 days to get back because of how often we had to stop to feed and change Preston. did i mention 2 twelve hour days? ;-) We actually stayed in the same cheap hotel on the trip to Iowa and the trip back to Utah....good deal....just didn't put Preston down on anything in the hotel....without a blanket or towel or something....high quality place lol

So we stopped in Iowa and stayed at my Grandparents house for a few days and met up with my parents and sister that drove from Michigan.

This was the first time my Dad got to meet Preston was in Iowa....He was a very proud Grandpa, couldn't get Preston away from him. ;-)

My mom was super excited to see Preston again and she couldn't believe how big he had gotten already.

Then went on to Nauvoo, Illinois a day before Todd and Catie's wedding to check out the church sites and hang out with some more family. We actually stayed in my sister in law Megan's families house that they have in Nauvoo because her family is involved in a lot of the activities in Nauvoo. It was super nice of her parents to let us stay there........

Us in front of the nauvoo temple.

Preston really didn't mind being toted around. Also on this trip was when we realized Preston is allergic to regular baby formula so he has to be on soy.....that is why his face is so broken out.....poor little guy.

This was right before we all rode on this oxen cart thing. Preston did so many things.....that he won't remember ;-)

This was one of the old brick buildings that were reconstructed. We went to a bunch of the old buildings and got tours. Davin hadn't ever been to Nauvoo so he was super excited to be there....oh and he took this picture in black n white....he is quite the photographer lol

Me feeding Preston....when wasn't he eating? This was in the house we stayed at in Nauvoo we got our own room......basically because no one else wanted to share a room with us.....i can't imagine why? A crying baby isn't that big of a deal...lol

The next day was Todd and Catie's Wedding.

On the steps of the temple. Top step from left to right is...

Megan (my brother Seth's wife), Seth (my bro), Wil (my cousin Elise's little boy), Nick (my cousin Elise's Husband).

bottom step from the left to right is...

Amy (my lil sis), Davin (my husband for those of you who don't know), Me and Preston, my grandma Oesterle, grandpa Oesterle (mom's parents)....and some lady lol

After the wedding we headed back to Waterloo, Iowa for Todd and Catie's reception. In between the wedding and reception there was a lunch at my Grandparents house and that is when we had Preston blessed.

This is my mom getting Preston dressed for his blessing. My cousin Elise let us borrow her son's blessing outfit....if i remember right Preston spit up on it. Sorry Elise.

Me holding Preston while everyone was getting in for the blessing.
This was after the blessing...These were all the guys that were there for the priesthood circle while Davin blessed Preston. Preston was actually really good during the blessing....i think he just slept through it actually. ;-)
Our little family....i didn't realize how fat my face looked...oh well. I love my family!!

After the blessing we put all the newest little babies together for a picture...we soon found out how hard it was to get all the little ones to look at you for a picture.
left to right...Preston, Beck (my cousin Tim's little boy...he was only like 4 days younger than Preston), Isabel ( my other cousin Aaron's little girl) She was like 3 months i think. Fun times.

This is us with my grandparents at Todd and Catie's reception in Waterloo, Iowa.

The trip was a lot of Driving but defiantly worth it. We had a blast seeing everyone and hanging out with my family. We left the next morning so Davin could be back in time for the first day of class on that Monday.

Preston's Birthday!!

Preston Erik Jarvinen was born July 27Th 2009 at 3:42pm after i was induced at 6 am. He was a healthy big guy at 8 lbs 13oz and 21 inches long. We were so happy to finally see the little guy. My mom and little sister Amy came to Utah to see Preston. My brother Seth and his wife Megan came to the hospital to see Preston as well. Preston was so interested in seeing everyone that he actually didn't go to sleep right after birth until nine o clock pm and he slept for almost 9 hours!! Also we learned right after birth that he loves to play with his tongue by rolling it and sticking it out.
It was nice to have my mom around to help with the new born Preston. My mom and Amy were around for about 2 weeks. It was scary to have her leave but Davin and I were just fine without her. As it turns out new born babies are not breakable and pretty much let you know whenever they need something. ;-) thankfully. Preston was a really good baby from the very beginning. He has been a joy to have.
Preston was a little jaundice like most babies so he had to be tested a couple of times after we took him home. Thankfully he didn't need any extra care. When he was about 6 days old we had to take him to the ER for complications with his circumcision. But everything ended up being just fine.....we were just a little paranoid.
Pictures! sorry they are not in order:

Preston home...trying to escape!

getting ready to leave the hospital...putting his clothes!

I look terrible but i wanted a picture of of me holding Preston the day we went home!

Just after birth Davin holding Preston

First bath at the hospital!

My mom and Amy at the hospital... he has a red mark on the side of his face from the forceps ;-( It went away within a day or 2.

wow...what is this place?? ;-P

Parents visit to utah!

My parents drove out to Utah for a visit and they hoped i would have the baby while my dad was here for the first 2 weeks of July(which didn't happen sadly). My dad then had to fly home for work and my mom stayed till the baby came.

My parents, Davin and i went to Bridal veil falls in the Provo canyon in Provo, UT.
this is my parents in front of the bottom of the falls
This is me in the stream type thing at the bottom of the falls. It was in July and the water was still freezing because the water is from the mountain snow run off. It felt good on my swollen feet and legs.
Davin and I at the bottom of the falls....he always loved to touch my stomach when i was pregnant.

This is my mom, dad, and i on the bridge over the river to the falls. Fun stuff

My mom, dad, brother, sister in law, little sister, Davin and I went to Lavender days in Mona, Utah. The fields were beautiful. I was hot and miserable since i was nine months pregnant but it was still very pretty and i am glad i went.

My parents

They had like this old jousting type building thing that had this jousting and archery show. It was kinda for children but it was still fun to watch. The horses were huge.

The guys in the little jail place they had for an old west show....that we didn't see. but still cool. It was super fun when my parents came for a visit. My little sister Amy and her boyfriend Jake came down for the 4Th of July from Idaho along with my cousin Todd and his Fiance Catie. We had a blast....i just didn't get any pictures. oops
